Next Day Art leases office space in Old PortJanuary 15, 2007 ![]() Portland, Maine – Next Day Art, an art licensing company, has leased office space at 424 Fore Street in the Old Port section of Portland, Maine. “The space puts us in the heart of the art community and allows us to share in the creative energy generated from this vibrant district,” commented company president James Meserve. All aspects of design, management and support services will operate from this location. “One of our goals is to bring more attention to the artist and provide an opportunity for the art community to make a living from their craft. I believe that what’s good for the artist ultimately is good business and to that end we are actively licensing artwork for use on everything from calendars to puzzles to tabletop designs. The artist receives a royalty from all of this.” The new venture is focused on artist representation, art licensing, publishing and ideation and is keen on putting the artist first. “We recognize that for many products and categories, the design process begins and ends with the artist and their creations”, states Meserve. Next Day Art is intent on improving the opportunity for artists and manufacturers to partner in design, art content and product development. Over the last 10 years, Meserve has managed multi-million dollar licensing/publishing companies that have represented well over 300 different artists and summarized, “I’ve learned first hand that it is impossible to manage so many artists and do them justice. It’s simply too many, our goal is to approach the artist relationship on a more hand-on basis while building on more substantial and selective relationships and opportunities with manufacturers”. Currently, Next Day Art is still actively looking for new artists and submissions for representation should be sent to jim@nextdayart.com. Next Day Art’s new web site, www.nextdayart.com allows manufacturers, designers and artists to access portfolios, artist biographies and company information. James Meserve, founder and president of Next Day Art, has an MBA from Boston College, degrees in Journalism and Economics from the University of Maine, Orono and has over 20 years of experience in retail marketing and brand management for publicly-traded companies including Stride Rite, LoJack, Strawberries Music and Movies and Quarto Group (London stock exchange).
