Elizabeth Van Riper

Elizabeth Van Riper has been painting for over 25 years and is a fourth generation artist. Raised in New Jersey, she spent her young adult years in NYC, and raised her family in Connecticut and Texas and settled in Florida in 2001.  Elizabeth works in many mediums, oil, gouache, acrylic, pastel, watercolor and collage.

Ms. Van Riper's mixed media paintings disconnect from the intellectual world of predetermined expectations and rather capture the feeling or story that is inspired by  subject, theme, or materials. Utilizing mixed media and imported papers and fabrics that are integrated with acrylic inks and bled water mediums she creates visceral dimensional experiences for the viewer.  "I love to capture, create and or emulate an atmosphere inspired by an image that has intrigued me, the aloof elegance of an orchid shoot, the sensuous petals of a peony, the patterns and textures of fabrics and the ethereal background of bled tapestries.  I invite the viewer to experience the atmosphere, story or subject as well as a sense of my creative experience and delight." says the artist.

High quality reproductions of Ms. Van Riper's work have been sold through The Horchow Collection, Nieman Marcus, and many other retail operations.  Pier One will be introducing embellished giclees during the later half of 2010.

In addition to Ms. Van Riper's art she is the host of a talk radio program "The Creative Life" ; and the creator and host of "Food for Thought" an Evening of Wine, Cuisine & Cultural Conversation.  Both of these endeavors focus on sharing the intimate personal creative evolution of artists, writers, musicians, composers, dancers, choreographers, playwrights,  and  actors.
