Bethany Winslow

Artist Bethany Winslow

New England Artist, Bethany Winslow, was born in Concord, NH and raised in Maine where she and her husband continue to reside. She received a BA in Visual Design from the University of Southern Maine in 1998. Afterward, Bethany worked as a graphic designer in a corporate setting as well as freelance until she left the creative world in 2003 to work in the non-profit sector. In 2005, Bethany returns as a fine artist working with oil on canvas.

Bethany's vibrant work is inspired by her great love of flowers and her desire to intimately experience their beauty. By isolating her view to a single bloom or a flower center she explores the complex detail of some of the simplest forms capturing their brilliance and subtlety of color.

The artist attributes her talent as a gift from God.

Throughout history flowers have been a powerful image of hope. Jesus used them as an example of how God provides for everything he created by comparing the blooms to clothing for the grass -a seemingly insignificant thing compared to humanity (Mt.6). "I think I am successful if my paintings can convey a sense of that hopefulness to the viewer."
